The structure of an atom

The bohr model shows the arrangement of the elemental particles that make up an atom.

The nucleus is the centre of the atom and contains protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve around the nucleus in energy levels called shells.

A carbon atom

A carbon atom consists of 6 electrons, 6 protons and 6 neutrons

An aluminium atom

13 electrons, 13 protons and 14 neutrons
