Drawing Types
There are numerous ways of communicating designs, each with their own place in the design process. In the exam you might need to identify each of the drawing types and what they are used for.
Oblique
This type of drawing focusses on the front face. Horizontal edges are drawn at 45 degrees.
Isometric
These are used to show a representation of three dimensional objects. Horizontal edges are drawn at 30 degrees.
Freehand sketches
Freehand sketches are used by designers as a quick method of recording their ideas. They are not a formal type of drawing, and do not need to be drawn with a rule.
Orthographic Projection
These are known as working drawings and are used to show an object from every angle. They are accurate drawings and must show dimensions and be drawn to scale.
