Standard Components

A standard part is a component that has been manufactured to specific standards and tolerances. Examples are small parts such as screws, nuts and bolts.

There are thousands of standard components which a designer and engineer can select. It is therefore not necessary for a designer to design their own screw since they are readily available "off the shelf". It makes design much quicker and cheaper.
