Pythagoras' theorem is used to calculate the length of any side of a right-angled triangle.
Pythagoras' theorem states that in any right angled triangle the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides.
In other words:
The formula can be rearranged so any side of the triangle can be calculated provided we know the length of the other two sides.
